ah ok so are you saying that you are quitting or battle for the battle season?
well if so that's too bad.
But anyway i would like to do a 3 way but i would have to create a character for it tho.
A better character than my season battle character lol.

If you're not finishing it for yourself, finish it out of respect for the amount of work Touma has put into his anim battle against you.

I truly respect how much effort touma has put into our battle .-. but there's nothing to finish. i have about 4 or 5 10 second animations, all of them are times i've restarted. I'd have to restart AGAIN to make another animation, and i'd gladly do that if i enjoyed the character i chose for the tournament. But i don't enjoy the character i chose for the tournament, so i'd much rather start a new battle with touma (And radium?) than start over my tournament with the character i don't enjoy. I'm disappointed in myself for not being able to finish though. It seems almost like i've insulted touma by having him animate a battle, and never finishing one myself.

SethX, do realize that you are being a user that we cannot count on if you decide to quit this time. I'm pretty sure I wouldn't allow you in future tournaments that hold value to the community if I set them up, as I wouldn't want people to work their asses off for nothing.

You failing to finish something is all because of yourself and your state of mind. if you really want to succeed in the field of animation, you have to be able to continue whenever u think it's going nowhere, there's always light at the end of the tunnel.

...that is the core of the problems - the serious problems. You managed to kick some ass in FA's RHGs, but if you go into a FB battle with that blazing weakness, you will get steamrolled. I dunno if the short fun/attention span is part of one's nature or learned qualities. Actually, I do think that you could train your mind to focus more - drastically increase your mental stamina - because I used myself as an example; if I don't focus, I could easily wither away like anyone else.
...I guess that you're probably too lazy to try it, but meditate. Replenish your motivation after every animation session. ...perhaps mentally muscle your way through your motivation obstacles.

what works for me if i feel like not going further is after every animation session I brainstorm for new ideas and write them down to feel motivated. This stuff really works for me.

It's not that i have a short attention span or anything.... or maybe i do, but my point is i believe i am STARTING to get more serious about animation, but at the current moment all i really want to do is improve. I find that many short practice animations a day helps me improve rather quickly. So i just... don't want to take on any full length responsibilities until i improve some more.

Then why did you sign up for the tournament, knowing very well you weren't going to finish anything?

Okay, well, I think it's time you focussed on enduring long term animating, before requesting battles and entering stuff like the battle season..

Until you mature a bit in your ability to stay focussed, you're too unreliable to join stuff like that.
Do try to challenge other animators in random battle like you can in this topic though!

Seth, I feel the same way about my own skill. I feel as if I have to meet a higher standard than that. Of course that's good and all, but it's gotten to the point that don't want to commit to any big project until I feel worthy enough to produce something that's as flawless as I imagine it should be.

And that's fucking stupid. They not going to be pro, and maybe not even that impressive, but it's going to be our art.

It occurred to me that the mentality which makes one so picky about himself that he refuses to try his best... is one of sheer denial, weakness, and a lack of pleasure in making art.

So don't you fucking quit, Seth. You aren't at your artistic peak yet, so don't worry about being flawed; you still have the capacity to grow a lot. So don't waste your time not making a cool battle animation.

nonono edy. im good for making epic battle animations. i just dont want people relying on me for things such as tournaments and such. until i get more sure of the quality of the animation i produce... i have good days and i have bad days, but id prefer to settle for consistant OK days, where i animate at 90% effort as opposed to 150%, 20%, 60%, 12%, 100%, 15%, 30% etc

So start animating with 90% effort now.

And that's bullshit, don't tell me you can't do a tournament but can do an epic battle animation when you can't even animate more than 10 seconds without quitting.

Nothing you just said changes anything.

guys even if seth says he cannot go any further i still think we should respect that decision and don't go flaming on him wich people are doing right now.
But i know that people think that he's and hey i do too.
But this is a very common problem when it comes to tournaments.

Also, his decision was based completely on giving up, in a sense. Why would we respect that? Any caring person would lecture him about it.

...also, SethX... when I get back into animating, I'm gonna try to use my experiences to record methods of staying on track. I'll try to help by running the same track and stopping you from falling... or I would if we were closer in touch. Instead, I'll shout from some mountain.

That could be pretty cool, Hito. IMO just record in notepad or doodle it whenever you notice yourself coping with any feeling of laziness or impatience. Or if you're energized the whole time, perhaps you could explain what's going through your head when you're especially energetic.
