| Here's my second assignment I have to do to hopefully get into animation college. The assignment is to create a suspense shot of a room, it has to have perspective and interior at least. This is what I did: http://www.truploader.com/view/706360Zoom out ( ctrl and - at the same time ) 4 times to get a decent view of how it looks in real life. keep in mind that the colors are a bit off due to this being a picture, and not the real drawing. Tell me what you think! I used Coloured pencils for this drawing, btw. | |

| The cabinet looks a little smushed on the left door, the plant is kind of flat, and some of the paper doesn't seem like it's laying down right. The rest of the room looks right, and I really like the perspective. The shading is good too. I feel like it should be darker (maybe the photo makes it lighter), but a generally darker color would make it more suspenseful, at least in this scene. The way the person is sneaking into the room makes me think the lights would be off or a lot dimmer in this situation.
I hope you get into the college!

| Very nice fish eye view, I would do that kind of angle in after effects tho and spend time learning something that isnt easy to do digitally yet. |

| you can do this stuff in photoshop, its quite simple actually, doing this stuff digitally, because you can easily set up a grid to work with. DarkJesus, I did think about using a lot darker colors, but somehow I feel as if that would mess up the ease of recognition of what is going on in the room. The left side of the large closet looks like its going straight somewhere in the middle.. it does. i accidentally coloured on top of the round part there, which made it look like that.. its too bad, but hey, there's not Undo button for stuff in real life. Taking a picture of the drawing did make colors lighter by the way, so the real drawing does have a bit better shading and stuff like that. the paper is laying down in random positions, which make it really hard to get the perspective right.. like this, its already difficult in 2 point perspective, and is practically impossible to do freehand in 5 point perspective. but I can live with it. The pic is during the day, so there's no need for dark lighting either any other things I should keep in mind when I'm defending my artistic choices ? | |

| Doing it in photoshop is cool for photos but Im talking about more in animation because i would rather see it in animation, the feel of watching a skate video with fish eye view is just really nice dont you think? |

| then you only have to study how 5 point perspective works. it's not that difficult once you learn about it a bit... took me a few hours to get a grasp of the concept!

| 5 point perspective as well? perspective is usually only taught untill 3 point perspective.. | |

| Ok, I think I understand the drawing now. I thought the tv was a window, and it was black; making it night time. Now i get that it's a tv. | |

| Lol, yeah it's a tv.
anything I should focus on the next time I try this perspective?

| Yo dude, I think you exaggerated some of the curves (the door in the middle seems like it should be less inflated).
I know you followed the concept of 5 point perspective, but I think you did too much guesswork wit hthe curves of stuff. The idea of a perspective study is to create a guide for every single edge.

| the doors are only slightly out of perspective, there are some minor flaws, but i used a grid, to which i stuck, so it might not look right, while it actually is.. | |

| Okay, but did you actually create a guide for each edge? That's one of hte main points of this.
IMO you should do a second one

| I created a spherical grid, horizontally and vertically and followed all lines... but it was a lot of fun to play around with thisperspective so i will definitely do this more than just this one time | |

| Great stuff. I might give it a shot when I wanna do something really mathematical and precise. I must urge you to use guides anyway, for each and every line, even when you know you can get it 99% right with guesswork. Why? Because the point is seeing how much you know or don't know about 3D space. | |

| There were no guides for the z-axis so lines into the middle vanishing points were guessed

| wut
But the vanishing point is the center. The door may give you the opposite idea of that, but the lines converge that way.

| Up- down and left-right lines had guides, lines like the wall coming toward the viewer didnt

| Yeah okay, try again after animating some nice shit, but this time actually graph every single line. | |

| I will, although it still will be extremely difficult to do those lines going into the distance, graphing them I mean | |

| I think what you need is some sort of compass tool, so you can have accurate, precise curves. | |
